Database of Arabic Literature in Western Research

The Database of Arabic Literature in Western Research (DAL)
The Database of Arabic Literature in Western Research (DAL) is an easy-to-use, searchable, internet-based bibliographic database of Arabic literature in western research. Search Keyword and other Browse links on the left hand bar, as well as Simple Search and Advanced Search, provide easy access to detailed, annotated and content-enriched bibliographic records of books, articles, chapters of books and reviews written in English since the movement of translation and commentary of Arabic literary texts first began in the West.
OxLit (Oxford Literary Publication and Documentation) focuses on scholarly books and articles about Arabic literature in western languages dating from the 18th century to the present day. Beginning with material written in English, the main aim of OxLit is to promote the texts of ancient and modern Arabic literature within scholarly circles and beyond to general readers and writers of literature.
The Database of Arabic Literature in Western Research (DAL) is OxLit’s inaugural project that provides online access to detailed bibliographic records in English of the main corpus of western research into ancient and modern Arabic literary works. DAL will soon be expanded to include materials written in German, French, Italian and Spanish.

A Guide to Arabic Literature will be OxLit's next project. The Guide will be published in printed form, and a concise version of it will be available online through the OxLit website.
